holla back

today i received a phone call at work. it was my grandma. grandma lives two houses away from me and she watches my kids two days each week so i can slave my life away at work.
i could tell that grandma was making an effort to control the "im about to freak out" tone in her voice as she told me that my baby girl (who is 5) fell backwards off of the kitchen counter, where she had climbed to get her brother a band-aid. grandma informed me that my baby could walk and stand, but when she sat down she cried and said it hurt really bad. grandma's fear was that the tailbone had been broken.
immediately, i put away all the demands of the day, turned out my light and headed south down may avenue. (i had consumed an ungodly amount of water before leaving work, but didnt feel that i had time to run to the bathroom due to the emergency at home. so this was quite a grueling ride. just so you know)
when i got to grandmas (after a brief, but necessary, stop) i found my little rabbit resting peacefully on the couch.
we conducted several tests which involved various michael jackson dance moves, the splits, toe-touching and speed-sitting. the only problem seemed to be toe-touching, which did bring a pained look to her face. i assessed that the tailbone had not been broken, and i dried the "im a horrible mommy for working instead of taking care of my kids during the day" tears from my eyes.
we took a long nap, my two babies and me snuggled up in my bed, and now proceed with quite a normal evening. now heres the good part:
there were some hand weights in the floor, and little rabbit thought they looked like an icepack (i have no idea why). she couldnt figure out how to pick up the weights without bending over, because it still hurts to bend - she does not want me to forget her plight. one way or another, she picked it up and held it on her hip. she was so proud. she said "mom! look at my new icepack- HOLLA!" being completely caught off guard, and a little afraid that i was suffering hearing loss, i said "what did you say?" and with a huge smile, still very proud of herself, she said "HOLLA!"

so, shes fine. holla.
